Marcia Fletcher RVNS, Dip VN (Dist), VTS – Anesthesia and Analgesia. Director and founder of The Pink Stethoscope
Safe and effective anaesthesia depends on a confident, well-prepared nursing team, and this hands-on dry-lab workshop is designed to build exactly that. Delegates will develop a strong foundation in anaesthetic fundamentals, including patient assessment, drug selection, and pre-anaesthetic planning, before moving into the practical skills that matter most in theatre: intubation technique, correct cuff inflation, anaesthetic depth assessment, and capnography waveform interpretation. Particular emphasis is placed on recognising, preventing, and responding to the most common and avoidable anaesthetic complications, including hypotension, apnoea, hypothermia, and bradycardia, as well as troubleshooting machine and equipment errors before they become critical.
Effective communication within the veterinary team is woven throughout the programme, reinforcing the shared responsibility for patient safety that underpins every anaesthetic event. Delegates will leave with practical, immediately applicable skills and the confidence to deliver safer anaesthesia outcomes from day one.
