Speaker Biography
Dr Jacob Michelsen
Dip ACVS, Dip ECVS

Jacob graduated from Sydney University in 1990 and worked in mixed practice for two years before buying his own practice in South West Sydney with his wife and fellow veterinarian. Jacob undertook a Graduate Certificate in Management in 2001 in order to learn better staff and process management in the rapidly growing practice group. After 15 years the practices were sold when Jacob and his family moved to Denmark for two years. A surgical residency at Charles Sturt University enticed him back to Australia in 2008 where he established the Small Animal Referral Hospital at Charles Sturt University. During his residency Jacob was fortunate enough to secure externships at Utrecht University and at North Carolina State University. Jacob passed his ACVS Board exams in 2013 and moved to Canberra in 2014 to take up a surgical specialty and practice management position at ARH Canberra. He has taught at numerous CE workshops and presented nationally and internationally on a range of subjects but is primarily orthopaedic focused.
