Our RECOVER Certified CPR Dry-lab in Sydney brought together veterinarians and veterinary nurses for a hands-on day focused on performing high-quality CPR in the clinic. The workshop was led by Anita Parkin, VTS (Anaesthesia & Analgesia).
Before the day, attendees completed the compulsory BLS and ALS online training, which gave them a strong foundation in the internationally recognised RECOVER guidelines. The dry-lab then brought that theory to life through simulation-based practice.
Throughout the day, attendees worked on:
- High-quality chest compressions and ventilation techniques
- Team-based CPR, including clear role assignment and coordination
- Early recognition and management of cardiopulmonary arrest
CPR simulation tools gave real-time feedback on every round, helping attendees fine-tune their compression depth, rate and ventilation. Working through structured protocols as a team showed how much hesitation can be removed when everyone knows their role, and how that translates into better patient outcomes.
The atmosphere was supportive and encouraging throughout. Attendees who were new to CPR and those refreshing their skills left better prepared to act decisively when seconds count.
Thank you to Anita for sharing her expertise and guiding such an engaging session, and to everyone who took part.
